The gallery was opened on
31.5.1979 in memory of K.C.S. Panicker (1911 - 1977), the versatile painter who was born at
Coimbatore (South India). In 1954 he was nominated by the Government of India as one of the
nine eminent Artists - Members of Lalit Kala Akademi. He has held one man shows of his works,
with great success in India and abroad.
This gallery is enriched with very rare collection of his paintings and sculptures including
the internationally acclaimed "Words and Symbols" series. His creations on display induce
tremendous amount of inquisitiveness in the mind of visitors who venture into their
interpretation. A true lover of art may not miss this unique experience of spending interactive
